The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine announced the launch of a joint program with Norway, which is aimed at supporting defense-tech startups within the framework of the Brave1 defense cluster.
The program includes launching grants for startups in the field of unmanned systems and defense technologies, holding joint hackathons, and creating platforms that will unite scientists, entrepreneurs, and companies from both countries.
The initiative's budget is 20 million euros, with 10 million euros from Ukraine and Norway. The Norwegian funds will be used for grants to develop technologies that will be tested in Ukraine. If successful, these solutions may be recommended for large-scale procurement for the needs of the Defense Forces.
The launch of Brave-Norway is planned for the end of 2025. The memorandum is valid for one year with the possibility of extension.
The European Union has previously promised to finance the deployment of mass production of drones in Ukraine for the amount of 2 billion euros. The funds will be disbursed in tranches according to clear rules and will be subject to return only if Ukraine receives reparations from Russia.
