A 22-year-old resident of Volyn threatened a woman with a «defacement» through Instagram and fraudulently extorted more than 450,000 hryvnias from her, promising to perform a ceremony, the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor’s Office reports .
«It is suspected that on October 29, 2024, a resident of the Volyn region threatened a woman from Vinnytsia with alleged damage, as a result of which there will be negative consequences, on 29.10.2024, she misled the woman and promised to „remove the damage“ in a way invented by her and to improve relations in the family through divination and conducting certain ceremonies,» the message said.
Having brought the woman to despair in this way, in order to carry out the ritual, the accused fraudulently extorted more than 450,000 hryvnias from the victim. She disposed of the money at her own discretion.
Currently, a petition has been submitted to the court to choose a preventive measure for the suspect. Investigations are ongoing.
«Under the procedural leadership of the Vinnytsia District Prosecutor’s Office, a 22-year-old woman from Luhansk was informed of the suspicion of taking possession of someone else’s property or acquiring the right to property by deception or abuse of trust (fraud), committed on a large scale (Part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),» they note. in the prosecutor’s office.
For the commission of an incriminated crime, the penalty is from three to eight years of imprisonment.
