The iPhone 17 series has four models: the practical base model, the sleek Air, the powerful Pro, and the large Pro Max. Each has several configurations, so it’s easy to get lost in the choice.

To avoid getting lost in numbers and names, it’s worth starting from your own needs: what tasks you need a smartphone for, what is your budget, and how important design is. A few questions about your purchase goals and personal priorities will help you quickly decide and find the phone that will suit you best.

Which smartphone format seems the most convenient?

If you used to have to choose between monoblocks, sliders and clamshells, now everything is easier. The iPhone 17 line is available in three formats:

A 6.9-inch phablet is for those who watch a lot of content, play games, or work with graphics.
The standard 6.3-inch iPhone 17 base and iPhone 17 Pro are for everyday tasks and convenient one-handed operation.
Ultra-thin 6.5 inches — only 5.6 mm thick, for lovers of thin profiles and unusual design solutions.

How much memory is used on your previous smartphone?

In the new line, the minimum memory capacity starts at 256 GB. This is a serious step forward. Even users of previous models with 64 GB now get a noticeable increase. The plus is that for small requests there is no need to buy additional cloud and clean the storage. The minus is that saving money on reduced memory is no longer available.

The seventeenth line offers three camera formats: single, dual, and triple. All of them provide high-quality photos and videos, but differ in their capabilities.

The base model has a dual 48+48 MP camera. It has a smaller zoom range, but there is a new generation night mode, macro, and modern photography styles.
Air — single 48 MP camera. Only two zoom options, simplified stabilization, no lidar and macro optics.

How important is ultra-high autonomy?

For many, it is enough if the smartphone works during the day and asks for charging in the evening. This is exactly how the Air behaves. Officially, it lasts up to 27 hours of video playback. But in real conditions, it discharges faster — in 13–15 hours of active use.

The base iPhone 17 lasts longer — up to 30 hours. The Pro lasts 3 hours more. The record holder remains the Pro Max with up to 39 hours of battery life.
