Premiere video editor is now available on iPhone as a free app with a multi-track timeline, 4K HDR support, and auto-generated subtitles. Some of the smart features are paid, an Android version is coming soon, and projects can be transferred to desktop Premiere via Adobe Cloud.
TechCrunch reported on the launch of the mobile application: details about the launch, features, and plans for Android were published in their article on September 30, 2025.
The iPhone version has the familiar desktop Premiere approach to editing: multiple video and audio tracks, text, music and sound overlays, manual color and shadow corrections on frames. For clips shot on a smartphone, a simple noise reduction slider has been added: it reduces background noise and enhances voice without digging into settings.
A separate bet is on AI. Inside the application, you can generate background sound based on a prompt, and if you sing or hum a melody, AI will turn it into an effect. Firefly also allows you to generate images and stickers and «animate» pictures into short transition videos. Basic editing is free, but AI options require credits.
Another plus for mobile creators is the integration with the Adobe Stock library: photos, clips and audio can be pulled up without additional payments. Tasks «on the run» start on the iPhone, and then continue on a PC or Mac in the full Premiere via Adobe Cloud. The reverse path — from the desktop version back to mobile — is not yet available.
«We want to empower all types of creators to work wherever they are. The next generation of creators are consciously choosing mobile editing, and we come to where they are,» said Adobe product director Mike Folgner.
Premiere’s release on iPhone is a logical step for a platform where demand for fast vertical editing with «pocket» post-processing, auto-subtitles and ready-made effects is growing. Mobile competitors have been working in this field for a long time, so Adobe adds exactly what many creators have been missing: a familiar ecosystem and a painless transition from a quick clip on a phone to a thorough final edit on a computer. An Android version is in development — this should close the last gap and level the experience between platforms.
