Nvidia founder: "My programmers would rather build AI agents than write Python code"

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said his software engineers are excited about how AI technologies are transforming their daily work. Instead of writing traditional code, he said, they are increasingly focusing on developing autonomous AI agents that take on routine tasks.
The company’s CEO said this in a recent interview with Nvidia, Business Insider reports. Huang noted that creating agent-based systems is becoming a key new skill for modern developers.
According to the Nvidia CEO, AI agents are able to break down large and complex tasks into several smaller steps, solving each of them independently to achieve the final goal. Thanks to this, the company’s engineers spend much less time directly writing code, which Huang compared to simple «typing on a keyboard». Instead, specialists focused on more complex tasks: designing agents, creating performance tests, and configuring protection mechanisms.
«You take all the routine work and try to get this agent to do it. It takes imagination, it takes creativity, and it takes a lot of technology,» explained Jensen Huang.
The Nvidia CEO also dismissed popular fears that automation will lead to mass unemployment among IT professionals. Unlike Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei or Amazon CEO Andy Jessee, who have previously expressed concerns about the future of white-collar jobs, Huang believes the opposite. He emphasized that the integration of artificial intelligence creates a huge number of new jobs and opens up additional opportunities for the industry.
«The amount of work we have to do to bring AI to the world is truly amazing. So it creates a whole bunch of jobs. And my software engineers love it,» the company’s CEO concluded.
Nvidia, whose market capitalization is approaching $5 trillion, is already actively implementing AI assistants like Cursor into everyday processes, and Huang himself predicts the mass implementation of autonomous agents in all divisions to radically increase labor productivity.
