Until now, AI Mode was only available to users in the US, UK, and India. Now, it’s available in English in over 180 new countries, with more languages coming soon, TechCrunch reports .
AI mode allows users to ask complex questions and clarifications to delve deeper into a topic right in the search.
In terms of new agent features, users can now use AI to find tables at restaurants, and in the future, to book services and find tickets for events. Users can request a table reservation by specifying a few parameters, such as the number of people, date, time, location, and preferred cuisine. AI will then search across multiple booking services for availability at restaurants that match the request and provide a curated list of options to choose from.
The new feature is initially rolling out to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the US through a Google Labs experimental program called “AI Agent Capabilities.” (The Ultra plan is Google’s most expensive, costing $249.99 per month.)
Google says that US users participating in the AI mode experiment will now also see search results tailored to their individual preferences and interests. But the feature will initially work with food-related topics.
For example, if someone searches, “Need a quick lunch and I only have an hour, what are some suggestions?” AI will use the user’s previous conversations, as well as places they’ve searched for or clicked on in search and maps, to suggest more relevant suggestions. So, if AI determines that the user likes Italian food and outdoor dining, they’ll get results with suggestions for options that match those preferences.
Google also notes that users can adjust personalization settings in their account.
