As Dexerto reports with reference to the South China Morning Post, law enforcement officers became interested in a woman surnamed Lin after complaints from viewers of her streams. Users noticed that she systematically ignored safety rules, taking her hands off the wheel and looking away from the road.
During a conversation with the police, the driver stated that she did not consider her behavior dangerous due to the high reliability of the on-board systems.
«Although my hands were doing other things, I was still thinking about driving. I really trust intelligent driving. As a female driver, I believe AI drives better than me,» Lin explained her position.
Despite the arguments for the superiority of technology, Chinese law (like most global regulations as of 2026) requires the driver to remain focused and be ready to take over at any time. Driver assistance systems, even the most advanced ones, are classified as support, not full autonomy.
As a result of the incident, Lin was fined 200 yuan (approximately $30) and had points removed from her driver’s license for dangerous driving.
