Franco-Ukrainian defense startup Alta Ares has appointed former head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance and military serviceman Anton Drobovych to the position of CEO in Ukraine.
This was announced by Alta Ares founder Adrian Kanter in an interview with Forbes Ukraine.
According to him, the search for a suitable candidate lasted for over a year.
"The companies that will survive are those that act quickly enough. I don't want to keep all the control in myself, so I delegated this power to Anton," Kanter noted, explaining that the key factors were Drobovych's speed of decision-making, his military experience, and his philosophical background.
The company emphasizes that the new leader's philosophical education is important for addressing ethical issues when configuring and deploying artificial intelligence on the front lines.
The main tasks of Anton Drobovych in his new position will be to expand the company's activities in Ukraine and implement the investment plan.
Alta Ares plans to invest approximately €10 million in Ukraine over the next 18 months, a fifth of the funds from its recently closed funding round. Key tasks for this period include opening several locations for the production of interceptor drones, as well as developing an R&D team to create a leading artificial intelligence laboratory in Ukraine.
