In the era of visual content dominance, the demand for digital design is growing and will continue to grow, as, without exaggeration, all companies and brands need convenient and beautiful digital products for their customers.
These can be websites, mobile applications, advertising graphics, animations, user interfaces — and everything we see on screens. Therefore, digital design specialists have many opportunities for career development: in large companies, in startups or advertising agencies, or as freelancers, choosing interesting projects and working independently.
The new Digital Design & AI curriculum will be a logical complement to EPAM School of Digital Technologies’ academic undergraduate programs, namely Software Engineering and the newly launched Data Science. It will allow covering the entire digital product creation cycle: from software development to UI/UX design.

Disciplines within the program include the basics and principles of design thinking, artificial intelligence, programming, data and analytics. Students master the basics of graphic design, visual communication, composition, Design Thinking, User Experience, professional tools (Figma, design systems, prototyping), 3D design for AR/VR, IoT, UX for artificial intelligence systems.
They also gain knowledge of the basics of programming, layout, creating web and mobile interfaces, and understanding development processes for interacting with frontend engineers.
The program pays significant attention to Human-Computer Interaction, an interdisciplinary field at the intersection of information technology and creative approaches, covering the psychological and cognitive aspects of human interaction with digital systems, the study of the human factor and its impact on product design.
Thanks to a partnership with Arizona State University, one of the largest public universities in the United States, AYU students receive a world-class education without having to travel abroad.
The Digital Design & AI undergraduate program also provides an opportunity to earn an accelerated master’s degree from Arizona State University. The fourth year of the program counts as one year of study at ASU. Therefore, after completing their studies in Ukraine, students can continue their studies for another year in the United States (online or in person) and earn a second, master’s degree from Arizona State University.
An important part of the educational experience is participation in the Global Internship Program. Thanks to it, AYK students undergo offline internships in leading international companies in the USA and Europe. Such professional experience not only allows students to master new skills, but also to get to know the American business culture and leading political and economic institutions of the USA in more detail. After all, as part of the internship, students visit the New York Stock Exchange, the Capitol, the Pentagon, the Senate, meet with leading politicians, diplomats, and opinion leaders. In 2024, AYK students had the opportunity to intern in such well-known global companies as CCI, 7-eleven, Logistics+, Doka, JP Morgan, Public Consulting Group, and Librus. There, students conducted their own projects, reported on the results, received a salary and covered related expenses for flight and accommodation, in other words, were in conditions that were as close as possible to real employment.
