The Ukrainian Antimonopoly Committee allowed the American Paramount Skydance to take control of Warner Bros. Discovery
The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) has granted official permission to the American company Paramount Skydance Corporation to indirectly acquire control over the media conglomerate Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc. The deal, which is valued at over $110 billion on the global market, has successfully passed the next stage of regulatory approvals.
This is evidenced by the official decision of the domestic regulator, published on the website of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine. According to the document, control over the assets of Warner Bros. Discovery will be exercised through the company Prince Sub Inc., registered in Wilmington (Delaware, USA).
In February 2026, Warner Bros. Discovery agreed to be acquired by Paramount Skydance, ending a long-running battle between the media holdings. Streaming giant Netflix had previously competed for WBD’s assets, offering about $82.7 billion, but later withdrew from the negotiations amid regulatory concerns about monopolizing the theatrical distribution market.
The creation of the Paramount Skydance media group became possible after David Ellison, son of Oracle technology corporation founder Larry Ellison, acquired Paramount Global and merged it with his company Skydance Media in August 2025.
To close deals of this scale, the companies need to obtain approval from antitrust authorities in all jurisdictions where they conduct commercial activities and generate revenues. Since both holdings generate revenues from content distribution, license sales, and the operation of their own platforms on the Ukrainian market, AMCU approval was a mandatory procedural step.
Warner Bros. Discovery owns assets such as the Warner Bros. film studio, CNN and Discovery channels, the premium network HBO and the streaming platform Max. With this deal, Paramount Skydance will gain full control of the rights to franchises such as DC Universe, Harry Potter, and the cult series Friends, The Big Bang Theory and Game of Thrones.
