Miltech startup Anduril has introduced EagleEye, an artificial intelligence-based helmet with augmented reality that helps soldiers on the battlefield.
Anduril says the system integrates mission planning, perception and control of unmanned vehicles and reduces the cognitive load on the soldier. EagleEye features mission management software with a display that is projected onto the goggles and helmet-mounted hardware to ensure balance, protection and efficiency on the battlefield.
«We don’t want to give service members a new tool — we’re giving them a new teammate. The idea of an AI partner built into a display has been around for decades. EagleEye is the first implementation of that idea,» said Palmer Luckey, founder of Anduril.
EagleEye provides mission control through a high-resolution, collaborative 3D sandbox where soldiers can rehearse missions, coordinate movements, and integrate live video feeds anchored to the terrain, creating a shared operational picture before and during a mission.
The helmet interface enhances a soldier’s view by overlaying digital information on the real world, providing critical contextual information. EagleEye features both an optically transparent daytime interface and a digital nighttime interface, each specifically designed for its environment.

Using Anduril’s Lattice distributed sensor network, the system integrates real-time data streams from across the battlespace, allowing soldiers to detect and track threats even when terrain or structures block direct line of sight.
The company notes that EagleEye also provides ballistic protection beyond full protection and blast wave mitigation.
«EagleEye combines soldiers' communications and control capabilities into a body-worn system. Soldiers can fly unmanned aerial vehicles, call for fire, and control robots while remaining mobile,» Anduril said in an announcement.
The company is partnering with Meta, OSI, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., and Gentex Corporation, which have «invested billions» in augmented reality, ruggedized glasses, computing devices, sensors, and ballistic helmets, while Anduril is «bringing proven technologies directly to the defense industry.»
Palmer Luckey previously stated that his company’s weapons helped destroy hundreds of millions of dollars of Russian military equipment, and Anduril did part of the «work» in Ukraine at its own expense.
