Cowork will remain a desktop-only tool for autonomously completing long-running tasks — such as organizing and analyzing local files and creating documents — while the mobile addition will serve only as a remote control to check on progress, TechRadar explains .
This means that users will also be able to run tasks remotely from their phone. This will provide the mobile app with almost identical functionality to the desktop version, despite the fact that these tasks will not actually be performed on the phone itself.

Screenshots of the upcoming feature appeared on the X social network. They indicate that the remote access functionality will be available in both the mobile app and the web version.
The company has yet to officially announce this rumored update, but it would make perfect sense after OpenAI added the Codex controller to its ChatGPT mobile app in May.
Cowork's website does indicate that phone tethering is already available in beta, but the exact details — like which accounts will get access first — remain unconfirmed at this time.
A separate support article also hints that Dispatch (a remote management tool) is available in beta for Pro and Max plans. It notes that it requires an active internet connection on both devices and that the computer is turned on.
In general, all this scattered information hints that a full launch will take place very soon.
