Anthropic has disclosed its financial results publicly for the first time as it prepares to go public. The artificial intelligence developer’s losses reached $80 billion in the first six months of 2026 due to large-scale investments in computing power. At the same time, the startup’s revenue grew 14 times compared to the same period last year, reaching $16.3 billion.

This was reported by The Washington Post, citing documents the company filed in preparation for its initial public offering (IPO).
The bulk of Anthropic’s spending is on training new AI models and renting data centers to support the Claude chatbot and business-facing agents. In the first half of 2026 alone, the company spent $9 billion on infrastructure, which already exceeds the figure for all of 2025 ($7.3 billion).
"The pace of AI development is extremely fast, with new versions of models appearing in short timeframes, often measured in months rather than years. As a result, even a short period without access to sufficient computing power can quickly cause us to fall behind," Anthropic representatives noted.
At the same time, in the prospectus, the startup warned potential investors about the possibility of “giving up income or growth opportunities” in order to adhere to the principles of safe AI development. The company’s founders also announced the transfer of 5% of shares to a public benefit fund and the intention to donate 80% of their own fortune to charity.
Anthropic’s initial public offering on the Nasdaq under the ticker ANT is expected late next month. Analysts predict the company’s valuation could reach $2 trillion.
