The new model requires less computing resources, which has reduced its operating cost by 40% compared to Opus 5. The response generation speed has increased by more than 30%. The price of input tokens is $4 per million, and output tokens is $20 per million. Reading from the cache costs $0.20 per million tokens, which is 60% cheaper than the previous version.
In preliminary testing, Opus 5.5 has shown significant progress in working with complex code. In particular, in web application optimization tests, the model successfully reduced page load times in 39 out of 40 cases.
“One tester completed a 680,000-line code migration in less than a day — a job that would have taken the engineering team weeks,” the company notes.
Anthropic paid special attention to the security and smoothing of the neural network behavior. The verification was carried out by external experts, including from Frontier Design and METR. According to the results of the automated audit, the model turned out to be more resistant to hacking attempts through prompt injection and less prone to performing irreversible actions outside the specified limits.
Due to the high opportunities in the areas of biology and cybersecurity, access to Opus 5.5 in these fields will be granted through special verification programs for researchers and specialists.
For subscribers of Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans, the company has increased five-hour usage limits and added a feature to save and flexibly reset transaction limits.
Anthropic announced that two new models will be added to the line in the coming weeks — the Claude Sonnet 5.5 and the Claude Haiku 5.5.
