Zelensky awarded Musk the Order of Freedom. And which Ukrainian IT professionals did Zelensky honor during his presidency?
On August 26, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree according to which American entrepreneur Elon Musk received the Order of Freedom, Ukraine’s highest award for foreigners.
The wording of the decree: «for outstanding personal merits in protecting people’s lives and freedom, and developing relations between the peoples of Ukraine and the United States of America.» And what about the awards for Ukrainian IT workers?

It is worth clarifying two things right away. The Order of Freedom, which Musk received, is the highest award for foreigners. The Ukrainian entrepreneurs and top managers of the IT sector, which are discussed below, received another — and much more frequent — award: the Order of Merit, III degree.

Mykhailo Fedorov
Mykhailo Fedorov, at that time Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of Digital Transformation, received the Order of Merit, III degree by Decree No. 593/2022 of August 23, 2022 — on Independence Day.
Yaroslav Azhnyuk
The same decree, No. 593/2022, also marked Yaroslav Azhnyuk, co-founder of Petcube, Odd Systems, and The Fourth Law.
Taras Kytsmey
Taras Kytsmey, a member of the SoftServe Supervisory Board, received the Order of Merit, III degree, by Decree No. 604/2026 of July 15, 2026.
Artem Borodatyuk
Artem Borodatyuk, founder of FRACTAL (Netpeak Group), — by the same order, decree No. 772/2024 (November 2024).
Maria of Berlin
Maria Berlinska, founder of Victory Drones and Dignitas, received the Presidential Award «Golden Heart» by Decree No. 802/2024 of December 8, 2024.
