Bitget announces the creation of a relief fund of over $1.5 million for families affected by the fire at the Wang Fuk Court Tower in Hong Kong
Bitget, the world’s largest Universal Exchange (UEX), will provide $1.54 million (HKD 12,000,000) to provide comprehensive support to families affected by the fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, Hong Kong, as well as to promote the recovery of the local community.
The donation is in response to one of the most tragic residential fires in Hong Kong in decades: a five-story fire that engulfed several towers of the Wang Fuk Court apartment complex on November 26 claimed at least 128 lives, injured more than 70 people, and forced more than 900 residents to temporarily evacuate their homes.

In connection with the incident, authorities have launched a criminal and anti-corruption investigation related to the repair work and the quality of the materials used, while emergency services continue search, rescue and recovery operations, and families try to find missing relatives.
To ensure a structured, transparent, and targeted distribution of aid, Bitget entrusted the implementation of a donation of HKD 12,000,000 (approximately $1.54 million) to three of Hong Kong's most reputable charities.
Yan Chai Hospital will receive HKD 5,000,000 ($640,000) to support emergency medical care, treatment of victims and rehabilitation of families. The Salvation Army Hong Kong will be allocated HKD 3,500,000 (approximately $450,000) to provide financial assistance, temporary housing, basic necessities and support to households that have lost their homes and sources of income. Po Leung Kuk will also receive HKD 3,500,000 (approximately $450,000) to provide psychological support, community outreach and long-term support to victims, families of the deceased and vulnerable residents in the area.
The relief fund is structured to ensure that every donation is used in a transparent, timely and targeted manner, complementing the Hong Kong Government’s emergency relief efforts, temporary housing solutions and ongoing inspections of housing estates undergoing renovation. Through medical support, financial assistance, mental health services and community outreach, partner organisations will help families navigate the immediate aftermath of the tragedy and the long journey to recovery.
Bitget expresses solidarity with Hong Kong at this difficult time and extends its condolences to all those who lost loved ones in the Wang Fuk Court fire, hoping that the affected residents can rebuild their homes and their community as soon and safely as possible.
