Five companies in the fund's portfolio are Ukrainian:
Firebolt Engineering is developing the Griffen, a jet-powered interceptor drone that can reach speeds of over 350 km/h, climb to an altitude of 7.5 km, and have a range of up to 120 km. The drone is reusable. The developers claim it can withstand up to ten landings. In addition, Grenadyr has also invested in Dynamic Propulsion, which is developing the engine for the Griffen.
Forland Systems is working on a modular ground robotic platform with the Achilles unmanned systems team. It is planned to be used for logistics, inspections and other support tasks.
Coalas Tech is working on control systems for UAVs and ground robots that must operate stably over long distances and in conditions of active electronic warfare. Back in July 2025, dev.ua wrote about more than 10,000 drones with Coalas solutions. At the beginning of 2026, the company reported more than 15,000 UAVs and dozens of NRC models. The company's goal is to replace Chinese communication systems, which are widely used in FPV drones. The company explained that their frequencies have long been known to the Russians, and the modules themselves may be vulnerable to spoofing and relatively simple electronic warfare means.
Another Ukrainian company is making a "smart" mining system. Grenadyr has not yet disclosed its name or the specifics of the project.
Another British-Ukrainian project has created a competitor to the American Hornet. Grenadyr also does not disclose the name of this team. According to investors, it has created a medium-range strike drone with vertical take-off, which is already used in combat missions and which is comparable in characteristics and price to the American Hornet.
The seventh company is working on drone autonomy. It is a British developer that is already present in Ukraine, but Grenadyr also does not disclose its name.
Grenadyr also appears to be more deeply involved in its portfolio companies than a typical investor. For example, Grenadyr partner Tomasz Wozniak is now a director of UK-based entities Coalas Tech , Forland Systems , and Technary , whose team, together with Grenadyr, created Firebolt Engineering.
Previously, dev.ua wrote about the Norwegian fund Gardar, which plans to invest up to €100 million in Ukrainian defense-tech startups. Its team has already invested in Buntar Aerospace, Lazr, Pai Defence and another unnamed Ukrainian manufacturer.
