Budanov said that Russia shared the technology for producing "Shaheeds" with North Korea. What consequences will this have?

The head of the GUR, Kirill Budanov, reported that North Korea will have the opportunity to produce the Shahed family of drones, as Russia has shared with it the relevant technologies, which it, in turn, borrowed from Iran.

The head of Ukrainian military intelligence stated this in an interview with The War Zone.

«There are agreements to begin creating facilities for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles of the Harpy and Geran types (the Russian version of the Iranian Shahed-136 drones) on the territory of North Korea. This will certainly lead to changes in the military balance in the region between North and South Korea,» Budanov stated.

According to him, the countries agreed to begin organizing this production in North Korea.

According to the publication, citing Budanov, the presence of the Shaheds would give North Korea the ability to strike targets anywhere in South Korea. In addition, these drones could also be exported back to Russia to support the war in Ukraine.

The head of the GUR also noted that the North Korean short-range ballistic missile KN-23, which was already widely used during the war in Ukraine, has been significantly improved through joint efforts of Russia and North Korea. So now the accuracy of this weapon has been increased many times over.

In addition to the above, according to Budanov, joint work between Russian and North Korean specialists is used in the modernization of aircraft weapons, long-range air-to-air missiles, as well as in specific technologies on submarines.

Meanwhile, it was recently reported that Russian forces may have begun using chemically treated Shahed 136 («Geran-2») UAVs, treating the drones' hulls with toxic substances.

Recall that Ukraine has already created several «Shaheed» interceptor drones, in particular from the companiesWild Hornets and Aero Bavovna. Of the latter, the latest Ukrainian development has already shot down 20 air targets, as we reported earlier.
