Registration for the 12th European CASSINI Hackathon, dedicated to the use of space data for civil resilience and security, has opened in Ukraine.
The event will take place on November 27–29, 2026 simultaneously in 10 European countries. In Ukraine, the centers of the event will be Kyiv and Ivano-Frankivsk. This was announced by the organizers of the event — NGO "METALAB" and the National University "Kyiv Aviation Institute".
The theme of this competition is “EU Space Technologies for Peace and Resilience”. Participants will create solutions based on data and signals from the European space programmes Copernicus and Galileo. The competition covers three key areas:
Cybersecurity of strategic space assets.
Space data for crisis response and civil resilience.
Countering cross-border crime and terrorism.
The hackathon is open to engineers, developers, data scientists, students, entrepreneurs, designers, and business professionals. Experience in the space industry or programming is not a mandatory requirement. Applications can be submitted individually or with a ready-made team by November 26, 2026.

Fill out the registration form and select the location “Ukraine”
After filling out the form, your registration is complete — you are a participant in the 12th CASSINI Hackathon: EU Space for Peace & Resilience!
Team: Go to Matchmaking to find members for your team. If you have an idea, create a project and invite members; if you are looking for a team, enable search status in the Preferences tab and write to the team.
The prize fund for the international stage is 5,000 euros for first place, 3,000 euros for second place, and 1,000 euros for third place. The winners will also receive 100 hours of consulting within the 6-month CASSINI mentoring program to develop their own project or startup.
During the previous hackathon, the Ukrainian team took third place at the international stage among all European participants.
