The 61-year-old specialist wrote about her resignation on her X page, thanking her former boss Elon Musk for giving her the responsibility to protect freedom of speech on the platform.
“We started with the critical work early on to prioritize the safety of our users—especially children—and rebuild advertiser trust. This team worked tirelessly on groundbreaking innovations like Community Notes and later X Money to bring the most iconic voices and content to the platform,” said Iaccarino.
Linda Iaccarino led X in May 2023, before that she worked for two years at NBCUniversal and 15 years at Turner Entertainment, at both companies she was involved in advertising integration on social platforms.
In Iaccarino's farewell post, many X users wrote that since Elon Musk acquired Twitter, the social network has become a haven for bots, propaganda, and excessive advertising, so they are not mourning the resignation of the X CEO.
The decision to resign coincided with the scandals surrounding the AI bot Grok, which was banned in Turkey because it criticized current President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Polish government plans to send a letter to the European Commission with similar claims regarding the chatbot's behavior. In the Polish segment X Grok also took the liberty of speaking frankly about the current Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
“I have the impression that we are entering a new era of hatred, which is amplified by algorithms, and that turning a blind eye to it or ignoring it today is a mistake that could cost humanity dearly in the future,” said Krzysztof Gawkowski, Poland's Minister of Digitalization.
It is currently unknown whether Grok's inappropriate comments provoked the CEO's resignation, but Company X said it would promptly address the chatbot's overly frank judgments.
The other day, Grok, who was popularly nicknamed "Glek" in Ukrainian, explained the concept of international law to many Russians, causing a wave of passionate reactions among residents of the aggressor country.
