At CES 2026, the company officially unveiled the production-ready version of its electric humanoid robot, Atlas, in its first public appearance. During the presentation, Atlas autonomously rose from a horizontal position using an atypical joint flip maneuver, demonstrating full freedom of joint rotation, and then interacted with the audience.
The company also announced a partnership with Google DeepMind to integrate Gemini Robotics, which will allow Atlas to process complex instructions and work in unstructured environments. The new Atlas, designed for industrial applications, has 56 degrees of freedom, a working reach of 7.5 feet and a load capacity of 110 pounds. The robot is designed for continuous operation, equipped with a 4-hour battery with the ability to be quickly replaced.
Boston Dynamics confirmed that the first units will be deployed in 2026 at Hyundai’s Metaplant facility in Georgia, marking Atlas' transition from a research platform to a commercial robot.
