OpenAI has made a ChatGPT plugin for Apple Messages. What can it do with a user's conversations?

OpenAI has added an Apple Messages plugin to ChatGPT. Now you can ask the AI to find an old message, transcribe a long conversation, come up with a reply, or send it on your behalf.
The feature can be used through ChatGPT Work or Codex in the ChatGPT desktop app for macOS. It also requires a computer with Apple Silicon. The plugin accesses your Messages app on Mac — including iMessage, SMS, and RCS.
Everyday conversations just got easier with the new Apple Messages plugin.
Search messages, catch up on conversations, draft and send replies—all with ChatGPT on your Mac.
By default, ChatGPT displays the prepared text and recipient before sending and asks the user to confirm the action. However, for a separate chat, this confirmation can be disabled. Then the AI will be able to send subsequent messages independently. However, OpenAI warns that when the AI works with unverified content in messages, the text from the correspondence can affect the agent’s behavior.
OpenAI claims that the plugin runs locally on the Mac and does not create a separate database with the user’s entire message history. However, it is not yet fully clear what fragments of correspondence may be transmitted to the model when the user asks it to find something, analyze something, or write a response.
Previously, dev.ua wrote that OpenAI has launched a Computer History feature for ChatGPT on Mac. It can remember what the user has been working on in different programs and websites, and then help find a previously viewed document, page, or other information.
