Chernogorenko suggests a way to save weapons production during alarms and downtime: what can be done?
Former Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine for Digitalization Kateryna Chornohorenko — the one behind the launch of the «Army of Drones», the «Reserve+» and «Army+» applications — drew attention to a problem that directly affects the speed of weapons supplies to the front: large-scale air alerts for entire regions force defense enterprises and customs to stop work even when the real threat concerns only a small part of the region.
«Due to constant concerns, enterprises are delaying the production and delivery of drones, customs is stopping work, components are at the border. And the front will very quickly feel any delay in weapons production,» Chornogorenko wrote on Facebook.
The first proposal concerns the method of notification itself. Instead of a general alert for the entire region, precise data on the air situation for citizens, customs, and defense enterprises: not «alert in the region,» but information by district, distance (for example, «100 km to your neighborhood»), or other risk markers. According to Chornohorenko, the technical basis for this already exists — a military detection system with such a level of accuracy has already been legalized, and the team proposed the exchange of data and the display of these alerts in the «Diya» application to the authorities a year ago.
The second proposal is to launch green corridors at customs for suppliers of components for military production so that parts critical to the defense industry do not stand in a general queue at the border with the rest of the cargo.
According to Chornohorenko, from a technological point of view, both solutions are simple. The question, she says, is more about the managerial capacity to implement it — and this is where she addresses the new government directly: «A year has already been lost. We don’t need to lose another one.»
