A Reddit user shared an unusual find among e-waste: 64GB of DDR4 RAM found at a local dump. The man, who usually hunts for scrap metal in recycling bins, this time came across a completely modern part, ready to be installed in a PC.
A Reddit user shared an unusual find among e-waste: 64GB of DDR4 RAM found at a local dump. The man, who usually hunts for scrap metal in recycling bins, this time came across a completely modern part, ready to be installed in a PC.
In a post on the PCMasterRace subreddit, the author of the publication listed his entire "catch", which included: 64GB of DDR4 RAM, a 10th generation Intel Core i7 processor with a Cooler Master cooler, an ASUS motherboard and a five-bay Drobo network attached storage (NAS), a Samsung monitor, and a new 5.25-inch floppy drive, writes VideoCardz.

The user notes that the 64GB upgrade will replace the current configuration with 16GB DDR4-2133 and a Core i7-7700 processor, while the GeForce GTX 1070 OC graphics card will remain in the system for now. If the memory and platform components prove to be working, this will provide a significant increase in capacity for heavy multitasking workloads and allow you to keep more running programs in memory.
VideoCardz added that on the secondary market, 64GB DDR4 memory kits, consisting of two 32GB desktop modules, typically sell for between $250 and $400 depending on brand, speed, and condition. In particular, a similar used kit on Newegg is currently listed for $499.
