"Unprecedented Bombardment." Cloudflare Sets New World Record for Botnet DDoS Attack with 31.4 Tbps

Cloudflare has recorded a DDoS attack that peaked at an incredible 31.4 Tbps. The attack was carried out by the Aisuru/Kimwolf botnet against Cloudflare customers and infrastructure, and the campaign itself was dubbed “The Night Before Christmas.”

The campaign began on December 19, 2025. According to the report, over 94% of the attacks generated between one and five billion packets of unwanted traffic per second, with 58% of them lasting between one and two minutes, writes PC Gamer.

Cloudflare also reported that in the last quarter of 2025, overall DDoS attack activity jumped by 31% compared to the third quarter, and year-over-year this figure increased by 58%.

Telecommunications companies were the most affected by so-called "hyper-powered" attacks, accounting for 42% of traffic. The IT and services sector was targeted in 15% of cases, while the gaming sector was affected in only 2%.

As for the locations most frequently targeted by DDoS attacks in Q4 2025, the top four are China, Hong Kong, Germany and Brazil. The US came in fifth place, ahead of the UK. According to the report, the list of main geographical sources of attacks is topped by Bangladesh, with Ecuador, Indonesia, Argentina and Hong Kong making up the rest of the top five.

The report emphasizes that the list of the ten largest attack source networks “reads like a list of Internet giants.” The authors note: “The common thread is clear: attackers are using the world’s most accessible and powerful network infrastructure, primarily large public services.”

Cloud providers such as DigitalOcean, Microsoft, Tencent, Oracle, and Hetzner were named as the largest sources of DDoS attacks. This “demonstrates a strong connection between the availability of easily deployable virtual machines and high-volume attacks.

This action by Cloudflare marks a significant shift in the way we safeguard digital creation in the age of artificial intelligence. Redefining who gains from online material is more important than simply stopping bots. https://geometrydashfullversion.io
