Ukrainian indie studio KOMA has announced the game Condemned to Clean, about a beach cleaner who must collect trash by court order to pay his debt.
The developers describe the project as a single-player simulator of an ecoactivist who is supposed to bring life back to an old beach in a provincial town.
«The court, not wanting to spend much time on the matter, took the beach away from the residents and handed it over to the local authorities with an order to clean it up. The local authorities didn’t like the burden, so they put it on the first person to break the law. You», — the description of Condemned to Clean says.
Players will have to sort and take out trash and fight fatigue, heat, and «self-doubt.» Each bag collected will bring them closer to paying off their debt and being released from their responsibilities.

«At first it seems simple: pick up the trash, put it in a bag, and take it to the receptacle. But with every step you take, you realize that the beach is endless, that behind the mountains of waste lies not only someone else’s, but also your own dirty past,» the developers say about the project.
According to them, sometimes important things valuable to one of the characters will be found in the trash. This will help to develop the game’s «melancholic story.»
Condemned to Clean currently has no release date, but the project can already be added to your Steam wishlist.
