Danylo Tsvek told the Associated Press in a comment. According to him, the integration of technologies is critical to confronting Russia, which has a quantitative advantage in resources and manpower.
«We have to make decisions faster than the enemy. Artificial intelligence is not just a competitive advantage. It is a matter of our survival,» the head of the Center emphasizes.
At the same time, Tsvek emphasized that Ukraine does not seek to achieve complete autonomy of combat systems. The goal is to create a highly coordinated system that accelerates decision-making, but leaves control to humans.
«It’s not about achieving 100% autonomy, it’s about being effective on the battlefield,» he explained.
Currently, the Ukrainian defense sector unites over 2,000 technology companies. The priority area is the development of systems that ensure the operation of drone swarms. This allows the equipment to maintain efficiency and perform tasks even in conditions of intensive operation of enemy electronic warfare (EW) equipment. AI technologies make it possible to automate individual links of the «defeat chain», which significantly reduces risks for personnel.
The Center’s work is funded in particular with the support of the UK Ministry of Defense, which emphasizes Ukraine’s integration into the global security system of democratic countries. After the launch of the CEO Defense AI Center «A1», it focused on basic areas: working with data, building infrastructure, and forming a team.
Currently, it functions as a full-fledged structure that combines the development, research, and implementation of AI solutions, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
