Every year on the third Thursday of May, Ukrainians around the world celebrate World Embroidery Day. This year, the holiday fell on May 21. The dev.ua editorial team has traditionally visited Ukrainian IT companies online and collected the warmest shots of this day. So we invite you to a festive photo tour.
On Instagram, the company’s Ukrainian offices shared photos from Kyiv, Kharkiv, Vinnytsia, and Lviv, and colleagues from Poland also joined the festive gallery.
In addition, this day, employees could enjoy the live sound of the bandura.
For the day of embroidery, the company organized a chamber event with Gunia Project.
«Maria Gavrilyuk, co-founder of the brand, told how they create exceptional things based on Ukrainian traditions, enter the international market, and make cultural heritage relevant today,» the company wrote on Instagram.
The employees were also treated to delicious pastries.
The company’s team traditionally celebrated Vyshyvanka Day. During a joint online call, employees created an annual photo collage in national costumes, and also launched a thematic music broadcast with Ukrainian hits — from classic pop to modern tracks.
On the occasion of Vyshyvanka Day, the company organized a charity raffle of an authentic shirt from the legendary Kosiv Bazaar as part of the Sigma Software Birthday Celebration. All funds raised will go to support the Kharkiv City Perinatal Center.
Celebrating Vyshyvanka Day has also become a tradition for the IT company ELEKS.
The Ukrainian ride-hailing service has traditionally launched a festive campaign for Vyshyvanka Day. To participate, passengers need to take a selfie wearing a vyshyvanka while traveling in a car and publish this photo in their Instagram stories.
For the fourth year in a row, the company is hosting a charity photoshoot in the office for Vyshyvanka Day. Employees get beautiful photos taken in traditional outfits in exchange for donations—this time, raising funds for the «Dronopad» project.
