Drones that are not jammed by electronic warfare: a new type of FPV was tested in Ukraine

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, together with the Brave1 cluster, conducted field tests of a new generation of FPV attack drones from eight Ukrainian manufacturers. These are solutions that should scale faster in the military and work more effectively in modern warfare, including under the active influence of electronic warfare.

The results of the tests were reported by the head of the Ministry of Defense, Mykhailo Fedorov.

According to him, during the tests, the drones were able to cover a distance of up to 25 km and hit targets even under the influence of various types of electronic warfare. Some of the solutions fully fulfilled the tasks set in scenarios that were as close to combat as possible.

«Our task is to scale these technologies in the army as quickly as possible and ensure accelerated delivery so that units receive effective tools immediately after confirmation of the result,» Fedorov noted.

UAV efficiency advisor Serhiy Sternenko, who is involved in improving approaches to the use of drones, is also working on the development of this area.

According to Fedorov, a rapid implementation system has already been built for the new type of FPV. In particular, the state has simplified codification procedures to shorten the path from development to the front, and has also changed the approach to resource allocation: 80% is directed to solutions whose effectiveness has been confirmed on the battlefield, and another 20% to new technologies.

Separately, the Ministry of Defense, together with Brave1, regularly conducts field tests for different classes of UAVs. For each of them, a separate testing methodology is developed, and even manufacturers who do not yet have government contracts are involved in participating.

«If the drone confirms its effectiveness in combat conditions, we immediately launch the contracting and scaling process,» adds Fedorov.

It was this model that was used to test a new type of FPV drone, which can now reach units more quickly.

The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that the focus on such technologies is part of a broader strategy that should ensure Ukraine’s advantage in war through rapid innovation cycles — from development to application at the front.
