Ukrainian Armor has developed two new heavy fiber-optic FPV drones with a flight range of up to 25 km
As part of the Brave1 Advantage defense event, the Ukrainian Armored Vehicles Company presented two new models of attack drones, UB80D15-EFP and UB82FO, controlled via a fiber-optic cable. What are the characteristics of the new products?
As part of the Brave1 Advantage defense event, the Ukrainian Armored Vehicles Company presented two new models of attack drones, UB80D15-EFP and UB82FO, controlled via a fiber-optic cable. What are the characteristics of the new products?
Both drones belong to the heavy class of 15-inch FPV platforms and are designed to engage manpower, firing positions, as well as unarmored and lightly armored enemy vehicles, the manufacturers said.
The first model, UB80D15-EFP, weighs 8.5 kg and is equipped with a combined warhead weighing 1.5 kg. Instead of conventional fragmentation ammunition, it uses a high-explosive fragmentation core capable of penetrating armor up to 50 mm thick. The flight range of this drone, thanks to an integrated fiber-optic coil, is 25 km.
The second modification, called UB82FO, has a total mass of 10 kg and is designed to carry a full-fledged 82 mm mortar shell as a combat load. The declared flight range of this model also reaches 25 km due to the fiber-optic cable, which is unwound directly during the movement of the platform.
Since both models are heavy and designed to transport heavy loads over extreme distances, the developers equipped them with a powerful power system. On board each drone are two 6s4p batteries with a total capacity of 20,000 mAh, which guarantees stable propeller thrust throughout the flight.
It was previously reported that the Czech defense-industrial holding Czechoslovak Group (CSG) has agreed to expand cooperation with the Ukrainian company Ukrainian Armored Vehicles. Now it is about the production of engines for drones and guided missiles directly on the territory of Ukraine.
