On the morning of July 29, Ukrainian drones struck industrial facilities in the Ryazan region of the Russian Federation. The attack caused fires at the Ryazan Oil Refinery and a large logistics complex of the Wildberries marketplace.
This was reported by Russian media and OSINT analysts from the ASTRA project, who identified the locations of the hits based on videos posted online.
According to geolocation and footage analysis, a thick column of smoke rose above the Ryazan Oil Refinery after the explosions. Due to strikes by Ukrainian drones, a fire also engulfed the Wildberries logistics center near Ryazan. The press service of the merged company RWB stated that the warehouse facility «was evacuated in accordance with safety requirements.» This is the first recorded UAV attack on this logistics hub.
The head of the Ryazan region, Pavel Malkov, confirmed the fact of a massive drone attack, traditionally stating about the work of air defense and fires «in industrial areas» due to falling debris.
«A massive UAV attack is being repelled in Ryazan, air defense is working. A fire has broken out on the territory of one of the enterprises. Emergency services are working on the scene,» the official wrote. He also added that six people were hospitalized as a result of the events.
The Ryazan oil refinery is part of Rosneft and is one of the key fuel processing facilities in the Russian Federation. The enterprise has been a regular target for Ukrainian long-range kamikaze drones. According to Reuters, the refinery had already stopped its operations after a previous successful drone strike on May 15.
The attack on the Ryazan warehouse is part of a large-scale operation against the enemy’s military logistics. Since July 18, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have struck at least 10 Wildberry logistics centers — in Elektrostal, Kotovsk, Koledino, Krasnodar, Nevinny Mysk, Voronezh, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, and occupied Simferopol.
More than 20% of the company’s warehouses were damaged. As noted by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, these facilities are actively used to supply the Russian army with drone components, navigation equipment, and supplies.
The head of the deftech company Fire Point, Denis Shtilerman, said in an interview with Dmitry Gordon that the Defense Forces plan to completely paralyze the work of the largest Russian marketplaces Wildberries and Ozon in order to destroy the supply of occupation troops and provoke the collapse of the Russian banking system. Against the background of regular attacks, Wildberries has already hidden the tag «Everything for the SVO» from the platform, under which more than 200,000 goods were previously sold.
Ukrainian drones hit four more facilities of the largest Russian marketplace Wildberries: warehouses in St. Petersburg, Tver, Simferopol, and Novosaratovka were hit
