Wild Hornets have developed a module that increases the range of FPV drones by 50%

Ukrainian MilTech company Wild Hornets has developed and launched into mass production a new video transmitter HV VTX Pro. It allows to increase the effective range of FPV drones by up to 50%, as well as to increase the stability of communication in conditions of active use of electronic warfare.

The developers announced this in their announcement. The updated module will become part of the Hornet Vision digital video transmission system. Despite the improved technical characteristics, the introduction of the HV VTX Pro will not lead to an increase in the cost of drones for the Ukrainian army.

The company’s engineers managed to more than double the maximum power of the VTX module — up to 4 W. This expands the capabilities of both FPV attack drones and interceptor drones.

By using an omnidirectional antenna with 360° coverage, the interceptors' range will increase from approximately 20 km to 30 km. In addition, the higher transmitter power allows for more reliable operation against targets moving at extremely low altitudes.

«According to pilots, depending on conditions, this can increase the effectiveness of intercepting low-flying targets by at least 20%,» Wild Hornets notes.

When using directional antennas on FPV drones, the maximum flight range will now depend primarily on battery capacity, rather than video signal loss.

The HV VTX Pro is currently being installed on new Wild Hornets drones equipped with night thermal imaging cameras. In the near future, drones with daytime optics will also be equipped with the new module.

Previously, the company expanded the number of independent communication channels in the system from 9 to 25. This allows 25 crews to work in the same radar field simultaneously without mutual radio interference, while analog systems are only able to support up to 10 crews.

In January 2026, the Wild Hornets created the Hornet Vision digital video system for STING interceptor drones, which provides HD video transmission and ground control station operation at a distance of over 30 km.
