Remote work and reduced working hours. How Ukrainian IT companies with offices in Georgia work during the protests
Representatives of Ukrainian IT companies ALLSTARSIT, AltexSoft and SD Solutions, which have offices in Georgia, spoke about their work during active political protests in the country, which are compared to the Ukrainian Maidan.
Representatives of Ukrainian IT companies ALLSTARSIT, AltexSoft and SD Solutions, which have offices in Georgia, spoke about their work during active political protests in the country, which are compared to the Ukrainian Maidan.
«Part of the teams surveyed by the companies transferred to a remote format, especially those who live near the parliament, where key actions are held. At SD Solutions, employees who live near the parliament were allowed to end the work day earlier, because the protests become more active in the evening», — DOU writes .
In the Georgian office of AltexSoft, the work process has not changed too much, because visiting the office was already voluntary, and the main part of the team worked remotely.
«Colleagues are constantly in touch with people-partners, managers and with each other, so that we can respond quickly and provide support within our capabilities», — says AltexSoft.
At AltexSoft, part of the team participates in protests regularly, others from time to time.
«As a company, we are convinced that everyone has the right to personal boundaries and free expression of views. We respect the right of colleagues to political or religious beliefs, active or passive participation in the political life of the country, as well as their vision of the situation», — they outline their position.
Esma Gulordava, HR Business Partner of ALLSTARSIT in Georgia, said that most Georgians work during the day and join the protests in the evening.
«Work and payment of taxes are important components of the financial stability of the state. ALLSTARSIT recommends working from home to experts who live in the center for safety reasons. The number of links between the company, the team and the client has increased significantly in order to keep a finger on the pulse and respond to all changes in time», — she said.
Esma Gulordava also added that a few years ago she watched a documentary about the events in Ukraine in 2014, and drew parallels with the current realities in Georgia.
SD Solutions emphasizes that there is now an atmosphere of stress and anticipation at the protests. The team of the Georgian office consists mainly of local citizens, so many of them participate in the protests. The company helps the protesters by purchasing warm clothes for a comfortable stay at the actions.
We will remind that the protests in Georgia started after the parliamentary elections, in which the pro-Russian party «Georgian Dream» officially won. The opposition parties did not recognize the election results.
The Ukrainian authorities announced the introduction of sanctions against the honorary chairman of the Georgian Dream party, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, and 19 other people from the political circle.
