At first glance at the station, the attention is immediately drawn to the large and bright screen on which all indicators are displayed. The gray metallic color of the plastic case with silver inserts on the sides makes the station look like a modern laptop or flagship-class smartphone.
On the front panel, the station actually has two interfaces — for using the AC ports and for USB charging. Next to the station start button (Power), there are separate buttons for turning on the AC ports (4 regular 220V sockets) and for USB ports (two USB-C ports with 140W charging support and two USB-A ports with Fast charge function).
Interestingly, the DC output is turned on from the back of the station — there is a separate button for this. DC ports are also located on the back.
Under the back cover of the station is a special port for connecting an additional battery. This way, you can expand the amount of energy the device can store from 1,000 to 5,000 Watt-hours.
EcoFlow Delta 3 Plus has a capacity of 1024 Wh and an output power of 1800 W. The station is also capable of withstanding peak loads of up to 3600 W, which are short-term — for a few seconds.
To withstand longer loads, the Delta 3 Plus is equipped with a special X-Boost function. This allows you to power high-power devices that are used for a short time. These can mainly be household appliances that heat water for a short time or pump air.
As an experiment, we connected an electric kettle to the station, the power of which is slightly higher than 2000 W. The station screen shows that its output power does not exceed 1800 W, but the water in the kettle heats up. Although, perhaps, a little slower than from a regular outlet.
The next test is a hair dryer. The station passes our test in two modes in turn. The first is low-power. EcoFlow accelerates to 500 W and calmly digests it.
The station also operates in the most powerful mode, but at the maximum of its capabilities.
The station charges at a maximum input power of 1500 W, which allows you to charge it in less than an hour. A feature of the station is that you can manually adjust the charging power in the EcoFlow application. This is especially useful when other powerful consumers of electricity are connected to the same outlet/line (and one home outlet usually does not withstand more than 4-5 kW of power). In this case, you can adjust the charging of the Delta 3 Plus in such a way that it does not interfere with the power supply of other gadgets.
Additionally, by reducing the charging power, you can also reduce the noise level. So you can sleep peacefully at night in the same room where your station is connected to the network.
By the way, the application allows you to set battery limits — up to what percentage it will be charged and, most importantly, you can set the minimum discharge, reaching which the station will turn off, saving a little energy for later.
EcoFlow Delta 3 Plus can be charged from a solar panel. The difference of this model is that it has not one, but two solar ports. So if you use two panels of 500 W each, the station can be charged to 100% quite quickly, if the level of insolation is sufficient.
If you use solar energy to power some of your devices or your home, you can set a special mode through the app that prevents current from the mains from passing past the battery and directly powering your gadgets. They will start to be powered by the regular mains only when the station’s battery is empty.
That is, first you will use free solar energy (or energy stored in another way), and only then — paid, from the outlet. This will help balance your consumption and save a little on utilities.
In addition, in the application you can set a so-called reserve of accumulated electricity, which will be consumed only when, for example, a sudden power outage occurs.
The station can operate as a UPS, guaranteeing very fast switching in the event of a power outage from the mains — less than 10 milliseconds. This is very good news for sensitive gadgets (NAS servers and 3D printers) and sensitive equipment (such as medical equipment), which can be turned off if the switching time is more noticeable.
If you dig into the app, you can find a rather interesting feature there — storm warning and power outage notification modes. They allow the UPS to instantly activate backup power for critical devices in case of unforeseen situations.
If severe weather is expected in the area where your device is located within 12 hours, StormGuard mode will be activated and you will receive a notification on your smartphone. The main thing is that the station is connected to a Wi-Fi network.
Delta 3 Plus is a truly safe and smart gadget. The battery management system (BMS) of our station includes more than 40 scenarios of protection measures against risks related to current, voltage, and temperature.
Thanks to the optimized cooling system of the new generation, it is also very quiet. When operating at a power of up to 600 W, it makes almost no sound. The noise level it produces is less than 30 decibels, which makes it even quieter than some old household gadgets. Remember the sounds an old refrigerator can make at night?
When you buy EcoFlow Delta 3 Plus, you definitely buy it for years. After all, it is more durable than less technological analogues. The station has a resource of 4000 cycles. Thus, it will last for more than 10 years, even if you discharge and recharge this device every day.
Even if the station works out this guaranteed number of cycles, it can still be used in the future. It’s just that the capacity will be slightly lower — about 80%. This will still be a fairly significant resource — 800 W.
