RSE opens a laboratory with a 600 kW power plant and simulators at Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Students will be trained to work with modern energy
Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute has opened the Energy Resilience Lab, a training laboratory for future energy professionals, where they will be able to work with equipment and simulators used in modern distributed generation systems.
Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute has opened the Energy Resilience Lab, a training laboratory for future energy professionals, where they will be able to work with equipment and simulators used in modern distributed generation systems.
This is reported by the Kyiv Institute of Political Science.
The laboratory was created by the international engineering and manufacturing company RSE together with the German MWM. One of the main elements of the laboratory was the MWM TCG 2016 generator set with a capacity of 600 kW.
The laboratory also has simulators that will allow students to learn how to operate power equipment, change its operating modes, and connect generation to the grid. Students will train on equipment and programs similar to those used by power engineers at real facilities.
In addition to training, the laboratory plans to conduct engineering research and test new energy technologies.KPI has also created a course «Cogeneration Plants for Sustainable Energy Supply.» Cogeneration is a technology that allows for the simultaneous production of electricity and heat.
«Today, Ukraine needs not only new energy capacities, but also engineers who know how to manage them. We wanted to create a place where students would work not with abstract models, but with technologies and tasks that energy professionals already face today at real facilities,» said RSE founder Andriy Hrinenko.
In the future, it is expected that this model will likely be extended to other universities and vocational education institutions.
Earlier, dev.ua wrote that a training and research center for practical training of power engineering students was opened at KPI. There, future specialists can train on a simulator of a nuclear reactor control panel. The equipment and software reproduce the operation of systems at a nuclear power plant.
Sikorsky Challenge 2020.
