Esper Bionics adds Power Grip feature to Esper Hand bionic prosthesis to increase grip strength by 67%

Ukrainian-American startup Esper Bionics has released an update to its Esper+ mobile app, which adds a new Power Grip feature to its Esper Hand 2 bionic prosthesis. It allows users to temporarily increase the device’s grip strength by 67% directly through the app when performing tasks that require additional physical effort.
The Power Grip activation mode is designed for situations where standard force is not enough — for example, when holding heavy objects or playing sports. According to tests on the Esper Hand Large model, the function significantly increases the grip strength, but the developers warn against its constant use. When operating in enhanced mode, the device consumes more energy, which accelerates battery discharge.
The developers demonstrated the update on the second-generation Esper Hand 2 model. This modification has IPX5 water protection, stronger aluminum fingers in the basic configuration, as well as optimized power consumption, which increases the autonomy of operation compared to the first version. All fingers of the prosthesis support interaction with touch screens.
Extra power when real life calls for it 🦾
Power Grip is a new feature and app setting that lets users increase the Esper Hand’s grip strength when a task requires more strength.
The function is controlled via the Esper+ mobile application, which connects to the prosthesis via Bluetooth. The platform allows users and prosthetists to train muscle signals, monitor muscle activity, configure sensors and select control modes. The Esper Hand 2 model supports 8 standard grips (including precision pinch, lateral, bottle, cutlery, pressing) and allows you to create, edit and save up to 24 individual user modes.
