After the publication of news about the destruction of an FSB facility in Crimea, sources in military circles clarified to Military News that the fire damage was inflicted by Flamingo cruise missiles.
The attack was carried out on the morning of August 30, 2025, on targets near Armyansk. The video of this massive volley on targets in enemy-controlled territory was published on the Telegram channel " Nikolayevsky Vanyok «.
The footage shows a triple launch from the Ukrainian coast at sunrise: the missiles rose into the air one after the other using solid-fuel boosters and headed for the target. New open low-resolution satellite images from the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem service confirm the damage to the facility. Judging by them, the main building of the outpost was destroyed, and the surrounding area was also affected by the fire, but due to the low resolution of the images, it is impossible to accurately assess the scale of the destruction.
According to Astra, the attack damaged six hovercraft and killed one serviceman. It is not known which boats were hit. However, it is known that the FSB border detachments in northern Crimea use A-8 «Khivus» hovercraft, which can carry up to eight landing personnel, and A25PS with a capacity of 30–50 people.
The new weapon became known on August 17, when Associated Press photojournalist Yefrem Lukatsky published the first pictures of the missile on his Facebook page.
The warhead of the Flamingo weighs 1,150 kg, the flight range exceeds 3,000 km. The missile is protected from the effects of Russian electronic warfare systems, its maximum speed reaches 950 km/h, the body is made of fiberglass composite.
Fire Point currently produces about one Flamingo missile per day, and the company hopes to increase its capacity to seven missiles per day by October. Mass production is expected to begin in late 2025 or early 2026.
Recall that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine is investigating the activities of the Fire Point company, which produces the FP-1 UAV and the FP-5 («Flamingo») cruise missile. The manufacturers are suspected of overstating the cost of UAV components and the number of drones for the Defense Forces.
