Four startups with Ukrainian roots entered the top 50 AI applications in the world by revenue — a16z rating

Four Ukrainian-based companies have made it into the top 50 consumer AI apps by monthly revenue, according to the seventh edition of the Top 100 Consumer AI Apps ranking, published by the renowned venture capital fund Andreessen Horowitz (a16z).

In a recent report, the fund's analysts changed their methodology for the first time and added a list of leaders in real user spending on American bank cards, using data from the YipitData service. Previously, a16z ratings were based solely on web and mobile traffic. The researchers explain that traffic figures no longer reflect the full picture of the market, as a significant part of the products now work in the format of desktop applications or AI agents inside messengers.

According to the report , four companies with Ukrainian roots made the list: Superhuman (4th place), Reface (18th place), Zeely (22nd place), and JustDone (34th place).

The key insight from the new study is that AI adoption is widespread, but for most it remains shallow. Nearly half of consumers in the US use AI, but only 25% do so daily. As of August, just 4.5% of users had an active paid subscription to leading models like ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude.

At the same time, the industry is confidently holding on to a narrow segment of the most active customers. Just 10% of users generate about half of all revenues in the consumer AI market. They are usually willing to pay significant amounts for specialized tools for programming, working with creativity and increasing productivity. A16z notes that it is in this segment that the technology found its first real market.

Another innovation in the rating was a change in the selection rules: services focused on NSFW (Not Safe For Work) content were excluded from the main list and allocated to a separate category, despite the high demand for them.
