Users can now ask Gemini to determine whether a downloaded video was created using artificial intelligence by asking a question, The Verge reports.
Gemini will scan video and audio for the presence of Google’s proprietary watermark called SynthID. The answer will be more detailed than just a «yes» or «no,» Google says. Gemini will point out specific moments when the watermark appears in the video or audio.
While OpenAI’s Sora watermarking tool was easy to detect and remove, Google calls its watermarking «imperceptible.» Google’s Nano Banana AI image generation model within Gemini embeds C2PA metadata.
Gemini can process videos up to 100MB in size and 90 seconds in length for review. This feature is available in all languages and regions where the Gemini app is available.
Google previously announced that the updated version of Gemini 2.5 Flash Native Audio is capable of real-time speech translation directly into headphones in 70 languages.
