Former GitHub CEO Thomas Domke’s new platform Entire is launching a decentralized Git network to save developers from GitHub crashes! The rapid rise of AI agents and the trend towards vibecoding are putting a huge strain on traditional networks. Entire offers a decentralized alternative for next-generation coding and has already announced plans to open source its backend.
Entire's distributed Git network, which is available in preview mode starting this Wednesday, allows developers to host repositories in different corners of the planet, ZDNET reports .
As with any decentralized network, the main idea is that a large number of hubs allows for risk diversification, as well as increasing speed and improving the experience for developers — especially those who are tired of relying on GitHub.
Entire supports working with Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and other popular AI agents for programming, and also stores session data along with the code.
“The preview version allows developers to duplicate an existing GitHub repository on Entire in one step: their code stays where it is, while their AI agents clone and load data from the regional Entire mirror,” the announcement explains. “This takes the heavy load off of concurrent read requests, allowing agents to run without any speed limitations.”
Going into technical details, Entire has provided initial test results that demonstrate its speed. The platform was able to withstand around 570,000 clones per hour from a single repository. In a simulation, 200 customers performed rapid clones from European cities including Frankfurt, London, Paris, and Dublin in around 3 minutes. With its Git Push feature, which pushes changes to a shared repository, Entire was able to maintain a speed of 586 pushes per second (around 2.1 million per hour) to a single branch or repository.
“Entire is designed specifically to enable large groups of AI agents to seamlessly push and pull code and changes across the network. Currently, Entire is benchmarking at speeds up to 25x faster than other Git competitors,” an Entire representative told ZDNET in an email.
In addition to the already well-known benefits of decentralization, Entire is targeting the rapidly growing programming field, which is currently experiencing a massive influx of AI agents. The company says the platform offers a “semantic memory layer” that catches agent errors and gives developers a better understanding of what kind of software these AI assistants are writing. With features like Blame and Review, Entire can show who last edited a line of code and why, or prompt multiple agents to analyze their actions.
The company added that it will soon allow programmers to “host new public and private repositories directly on the system” and will fully decentralize its network, which will “ensure local data storage, sovereignty, and scalability in any region.”
Entire's Git network has servers in the US, EU, and Australia, but anyone can use them or create mirrors of repositories in multiple regions at once. Developers can already sign up for a waitlist.
Як нейромережі бачать вільну та незалежну Україну? Тест dev.ua
