GlobalLogic opened Europe's first Physical AI demo zone in Krakow: it showcases drones, robots, and digital twins

The company is demonstrating technologies that combine artificial intelligence with physical systems — from robots and drones to digital twins of industrial facilities.

GlobalLogic, part of the Japanese Hitachi Group and with a large presence in Ukraine, has opened the first European Physical AI demo zone at its engineering center in Krakow. The company is demonstrating technologies that combine artificial intelligence with physical systems — from robots and drones to digital twins of industrial facilities.

From AI in code to AI that interacts with the physical world

The new demo zone should become a platform for demonstrating Physical AI solutions — systems in which artificial intelligence does not just work with text or data, but interacts with the physical environment.

GlobalLogic leverages over 25 years of experience in embedded systems development to combine AI algorithms with hardware, sensors, robotic platforms, and infrastructure.

In Krakow, the company is showcasing five areas of Physical AI: cognitive assets, digital twins and simulations, autonomous operations, robotics and automation, and autonomous infrastructure.

Practical scenarios include computer vision that collects data on the condition of equipment, drones for monitoring critical infrastructure, and robotic systems capable of interacting with the environment.

A separate area is digital twins. These are virtual models of physical objects and systems that can be used to simulate the operation of factories, transportation networks, or other infrastructure and test changes before they are implemented in the physical world.

The company expects to apply such technologies, in particular, in industry, transportation, energy, medicine, and telecommunications.

«Physical AI is the result of combining many disciplines: from embedded systems and robotics to digital twins and cloud infrastructure,» said Srini Shankar, President and CEO of GlobalLogic and CEO of Hitachi Digital Services.

Drones, computer vision and robotic systems

Among the cases presented in the demo zone is autonomous infrastructure monitoring using drones and computer vision. The system can collect data about physical objects and use AI to analyze them.

GlobalLogic also shows robotic systems that interact with the physical environment, solutions for quality control, equipment maintenance, and data analysis.

Another direction is the use of generative AI and synthetic data to test complex physical systems. This, according to the company, should reduce the time required to validate such solutions before launching in a real environment.

«Physical AI starts with deep engineering expertise,» said Yulia Shtukaturova, Group Vice President and Head of EMEA at GlobalLogic.

GlobalLogic emphasizes that for industrial use of Physical AI, it is not enough to simply connect a ready-made AI model. Embedded development, robotics, data work, cloud infrastructure, and system integration are required.

The company relies on an open architecture that allows it to combine its own engineering frameworks with technologies from various cloud service and equipment providers.

Physical AI is becoming a separate direction for engineers

The Krakow European Demozone Center will also showcase the capabilities of GlobalLogic’s European engineering teams, which are working on solutions for the automotive, energy, and healthcare industries.

For GlobalLogic, Physical AI is the next stage in the development of AI, when models begin to directly influence the physical world: controlling robots, analyzing data from sensors, controlling equipment, or helping autonomous systems make decisions.
