Google has launched Google Pics, a new AI-powered image creation and editing tool that will be available to most Google Workspace enterprise users, as well as Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. The company is positioning it as a tool for teams creating banners, posters, marketing materials, or presentation graphics.
The company announced the launch on the Google Workspace blog.
Google Pics is powered by the Nano Banana image generation and editing model. The user can describe what kind of image they want, and Pics will generate the image and offer several alternatives based on the prompt. Unlike the usual image generation in Gemini, in Pics you can select and change specific objects or captions, crop and scale the image. Google Pics also supports collaborative editing, so multiple people can work on the same image.
The tool can also work with captions right inside the image. For example, change and translate text. In addition, you can crop images to the desired format, increase their resolution to 2K or 4K, and make multiple edits at once in one prompt.
Pics will work both as a standalone service and within Google Workspace. That's why starting September 1, Google is integrating it into Docs and Slides, so you can open and edit an image in a document or presentation in Pics without having to switch to another app. Integration with Google Drive should be coming in the coming weeks.
Google is gradually opening up Pics to Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, and Enterprise Plus users, as well as Google AI Pro, Ultra, and Google AI Pro for Education subscribers.
