Director General of "Ukrposhta" Ihor Smilyansky was appointed Commissioner for Customs Reform. It will deal, in particular, with digitization

Smilyanskyi will work on a public basis, that is, without payment of wages from the state budget.

The Government has introduced the position of the Government Commissioner for Customs Reform, which will be headed by the General Director of Ukrposhta Ihor Smilyanskyi.

This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal.

A corresponding coordination working group was also created. According to the prime minister, her task, led by the commissioner, will be:

— Synchronization with the EU;

— Modernization of infrastructure;

— Implementation of a risk-oriented system;

— Digitization and others.

Ihor Smilyanskyi stated that the main goal of the project is to develop and offer "an absolutely new customs model" together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and other participants within the next 3-4 months.

According to him, this model will be based on digitization and data analysis with minimal impact on human resources. He also informed that international partners will be involved in the project in order to synchronize all procedures with the EU.

Ihor Smilyanskyi added that he will retain the position of CEO at Ukrposhta and clarified that he will work on a public basis as the customs reform commissioner.

We will remind that in September, the Verkhovna Rada as a whole adopted the draft law on the reset of customs, which was agreed with international partners. The document, in particular, envisages the political independence of the head of the DMS, because dismissals will take place based on the audit's conclusion.

The draft law should increase budget revenues by UAH 100 billion over several years.
