The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the application for the dismissal of Gennady Novikov from the position of head of the state agency PlayCity. The former head of the agency announced this personally, summing up the results of his work since April last year, when he headed the newly created body.

«The government has granted my application to resign from the position of head of the PlayCity state agency. Now this stage is officially over for me,» Novikov wrote on Facebook.
According to him, the task of the newly created agency was «to build a new regulatory system for one of the most complex industries from scratch, virtually transparent, digital, and understandable for the state, business, and society.»
In his post, Novikov also listed the key results of PlayCity’s work:
the first phase of the State Online Monitoring System (SOMS) has been launched, with 28 out of 31 licensed organizers already integrated into it. The second phase of SOMS has passed the tender and will be put into commercial operation this year;
376 licenses were issued, which brought the budget almost UAH 2.5 billion. In addition, for the first time in over 12 years, lottery operators were returned to the regulatory field;
scheduled inspections of gambling organizers have been resumed, resulting in sanctions of over UAH 1 billion for violations of the law;
more than 15,600 illegal gambling sites were blocked and almost 900 accounts with illegal advertising were blocked through direct interaction with Meta, Google, TikTok, YouTube, Twitch, Viber, and Kick;
Financial and time limits were introduced, the Register of Persons with Limited Access was updated, and an online self-restriction mechanism was developed.
Novikov emphasized that the regulator continues to function normally, and the launched digital reforms have become irreversible.

As a reminder, the former head of the state agency PlayCity, Gennady Novikov, submitted his resignation in July. This happened after the appointment of a new Cabinet of Ministers.
Oleksii Tomashuk will temporarily assume the duties of Hennadii Novikov, as decided by the Cabinet of Ministers.
