German high-tech company HENSOLDT, which supplies the Ukrainian Armed Forces with critical air defense radars, has officially opened a local service and innovation center in Ukraine. The main goal is to quickly repair equipment on site and help scale Ukrainian miltech innovations to European standards.
TRML-4D radar maintenance and training
One of the main priorities of the new hub will be to support the operation of the highly efficient TRML-4D radars, which are critical for Ukrainian air defense. The company concluded that managing priorities, service, and troubleshooting remotely is not enough.
Thanks to the local center, HENSOLDT plans to structure service processes and launch targeted training programs. This will allow Ukrainian specialists to independently operate, maintain, and return complex systems to service as quickly as possible.
«Availability is the key to success. It is not enough to simply deliver the systems, it is important to keep them operational. And this requires local expertise, clear processes and close coordination,» emphasized HENSOLDT CEO Oliver Dörre.
A bridge between the battlefield and big industry
The second major task of the center is to combine Ukrainian innovation drive with the Western industrial base. HENSOLDT notes that the Ukrainian defense sector has become one of the most dynamic in the world due to rapid development and instant feedback from real combat operations.
However, for Ukrainian developments to work at full capacity, they need to be combined with proven systems, European industrial standards, and scalable architecture. The German manufacturer plans to act as a kind of «bridge» between the rapid technological solutions of Ukrainians and its system integration.
