Ukrainian tactical communications developer HIMERA and Finnish defense technology company Bittium have agreed on a partnership. The manufacturers plan to join forces to strengthen the defense potential of Ukraine and Finland, as well as to develop joint solutions for NATO needs.
As the companies said in a joint statement, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed during the Ukraine Reconstruction Conference (URC 2026), which is currently taking place in Gdansk, Poland. This year, for the first time, a separate section dedicated to security and defense was organized at the annual international event.
As part of the collaboration, Ukrainian and Finnish engineers plan to explore the possibilities of integrating Bittium’s defense solutions with HIMERA tactical communications systems. The joint work aims to create a robust and scalable ecosystem for military personnel at all levels — from the individual soldier in the trench to the operational command.
Finnish company Bittium has been developing secure communications solutions for the Finnish Defence Forces for over 20 years. The company produces tactical IP networks, software-defined radios and secure smartphones that are certified to NATO standards for handling restricted information.
Ukrainian startup HIMERA was founded in 2022 to solve the problem of tactical communication deficit at the front in conditions of active enemy electronic warfare. The radios and communication systems developed by the company are resistant to interference, easy to use and relatively cheap to produce. They are now actively used by the Ukrainian military on the front lines.
«Both Finland and Ukraine know what it means to take security seriously. HIMERA has demonstrated extraordinary capabilities under real operational load. Together we can offer something truly valuable to both countries and beyond. We look forward to developing solutions that will serve both Finnish and Ukrainian armed forces and can evolve to meet NATO needs,» said Tommy Kangas, Senior Vice President, Bittium Defence & Security.
HIMERA Co-Founder and CEO Misha Rudominsky emphasized that the partnership between the two companies is absolutely natural due to the common security challenges facing the countries. According to him, the Ukrainian side is ready to share with European colleagues its unique combat experience and lessons of modern high-tech warfare.
