Polish programmer Pawel Stefanski has begun developing a free browser game in the Tower Defense genre based on the universe of Ukrainian animator freeonis. The project will have a charitable purpose and will include graphic elements from the author of the original animations.
Ukrainian creator freeonis announced this on his X (Twitter) account. According to him, he is not the main developer of the game, but only helps the Polish specialist with the visual component and design.
According to the authors' plan, the game levels will highlight different stages and events of the Russian-Ukrainian war. The project is positioned not only as an entertaining, but also as an interactive way to tell a foreign and local audience about the course of hostilities and the resistance to the Russian occupiers.
"As far as I understand, the game will have many levels that will cover different stages and events of the Russian-Ukrainian war. So I look at this game not so much as an entertainment project, but as a kind of interactive way to tell about the history and events of this war," freeonis noted.
The game will be completely free. It is planned to include links to original freeonis animation works, as well as props to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Currently, the developer is trying to agree on the details of cooperation with the fundraising platform UNITED24.
The project is still in the early stages of development, and its balance and mechanics are being finalized. The authors have not yet announced an exact release date. The animator also emphasized that participating in the game will not interfere with the release of his main animated videos.
freeonis is a Ukrainian animator and content maker, known for his popular videos about the events of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which ironically and satirically highlight the struggle of the Ukrainian military against the Russian invaders and geopolitical events.
