In the border regions of Chernihiv and Sumy regions, hryvnias with QR codes were found on the ground, which the Russian military had scattered from their drones.
This was reported by the acting mayor of Sumy, Artem Kobzar, in his Telegram.
«There have been recorded cases of the enemy distributing counterfeit banknotes using UAVs. They may contain provocative inscriptions and QR codes leading to enemy information resources,» Kobzar wrote.
He urged not to pick up such bills and to immediately report them to the police or the State Emergency Service.
The fake hryvnias being distributed by Russians contain calls to read propaganda resources and provide coordinates of Ukrainian targets for strikes by the Russian occupation army. They also have a QR code to link to the Russian Telegram channel.

Pavlo Miroshnychenko, the head of the Koryukiv Regional Police Department, also spoke about the discovery of such fakes.
«This morning in Snovsk, an enemy drone scattered leaflets in the form of banknotes with a QR code. A request to everyone: do not touch such „gifts“ and do not scan them!», — stated Miroshnychenko.
Last year, the Cyber Police warned of a new wave of fraud related to the substitution of QR codes in public places. By scanning such codes, users are taken to phishing sites that imitate real online services. As a result, attackers can gain access to banking data and steal funds.
