An industrial zone was attacked in the city of Yelets, Lipetsk region of the Russian Federation on October 25. The probable target was the Energia plant, one of the largest Russian manufacturers of chemical power sources, which supplies batteries and power cells for missile weapons, drones, and military aircraft. According to monitoring channels, a fire broke out at the enterprise after the strike.
The attack on the industrial zone was reported by the governor of the Lipetsk region, Igor Artamonov. The Ukrainian monitoring Telegram channel Exilenova+ announced a strike with cruise missiles on the Energia PJSC enterprise. As of 3:00 p.m. on October 25, the plant, according to the channel, was still burning.
The Russian publication ASTRA also named Energia as a likely target of the attack. However, there was no official confirmation of the damage to the enterprise by the Ukrainian military at the time of publication.
What does the Energia plant produce?
PJSC Energia is one of the largest manufacturers of chemical power sources in Russia. The company produces products that are used in various types of Russian weapons and military equipment.
In particular, the plant produces:
batteries for drones;
power cells for air defense missile systems;
batteries for military aviation and navy;
components for missile weapons.
Energia’s batteries have been found, in particular, in Russian Iskander and Kinzhal missiles. The company is under sanctions by the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and a number of other countries.
The factory was already attacked in 2025
This is not the first known case of an attack on a company. In May 2025, damage to production buildings was reported after an attack on Energia.
In July of the same year, as a result of a new hit, according to reports from the Ukrainian side, production at the plant stopped.
The consequences of the October 25 attack and the extent of possible damage to production facilities remain unknown at this time. There is also no official confirmation that the Energia plant was hit.
