Due to the constant threat of Ukrainian drones, the occupiers decided to resort to radical methods.
The self-proclaimed governor and head of Russia-annexed Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, announced that the restrictions on Internet access will remain in effect until the so-called "SVO" is completed and recommended that civilians "just accept it and switch to a different mode of operation."
"The Internet today can serve both good and bad purposes. That's why the enemy often uses these things. So until the end of the SVO, these restrictions will be in effect, here we just have to come to terms with it - well, switch to a different operating mode, understand at what time and how they turn it off," Aksyonov blurted out.
The occupation authorities are taking these steps through constant attacks by Ukrainian air and sea drones, which allegedly use local networks to strike critical locations of the occupiers.
In particular, recently, Ukrainian underwater drones Sub Sea Baby for the first time in history hit a Russian submarine, the cost of which is estimated at about $400 million.
This is not a rare case when the Internet connection is “cut” in Raska. Previously, restrictions were introduced on the territory of the Russian Federation regarding mobile Internet for foreign SIM and eSIM. It is noted that SIM cards of foreign operators are often found in drones that attack targets in the Russian Federation, so access to the mobile Internet for such cards is restricted, in particular during the threat of shelling.
The next step will be to ban Russian mobile operators from using foreign-made SIM cards from September 1, 2026.
Temporary residents of Crimea will now join the cohort of compatriots from the Ulyanovsk region, where they also decided to extend the restrictions on mobile Internet until the end of the so-called "SVO".
